The average humidity stays around 78% whereas the annual rainfall is about 1,515 mm. August and December are the driest months. Cuba also experiences hurricanes, typhoons or tropical cyclones. Most hurricanes strike the country in the months of October and November. Hurricane season officially starts from mid-June and extends till November.
1. Best Times To Go
Cuban climate is typically hot and sub-tropical all through the year. Rainfall takes place from May to October and hurricanes can occur in autumn, which extends from August to November. Humidity typically varies between 75% and 95% and the climate is comparatively cooler. The rainfall is at its minimum from January to April.
Hence, the best time to visit would be during winter - November to April - in the dry season. Not surprisingly, this is also the peak season in terms of number of tourists.
2. What To Wear
Cotton and linen are preferred fabrics for clothing throughout the year. But it is better to keep in mind that resorts, restaurants, tour buses and other public areas are generally air- conditioned. It is unadvisable to wear synthetics because of the high content of humidity in the atmosphere. For protection from the rains, waterproof clothing is advisable all year round. Visitors who enjoy sophisticated entertainment like fine dining and theater are advised to carry formal attire for those occasions.
