No trip to Honduras can be complete without visiting the local markets and carrying a souvenir back from this wonderful place. Some of the typical Honduran items include cigars, leather goods, woodcarvings, straw hats and bags, baskets and seed necklaces. San Pedro Sula can be one of the best places for buying coffee, rum, vanilla and local handicrafts available in the famous Guamilito market. The market is known to be one of the largest, and can be a really good place to explore and buy Honduran specialties. The opening hours of the market are between 8.00 am and 5.00 pm. Flor de Cana is the local rum that is surely something to carry back and can be bargained to buy at around 15 to 20% less than the originally quoted price. Among the various qualities of the rum, the Reserva is supposed to be the best. Some of the best Honduran coffee brands include Café Miramundo and Café Welchez.

A trip to the Turiplaza - Imapro handicraft school is a must for witnessing some of the best craftsmen of woodcarvings at work. A number of finished items on exhibition are also available for sale. Visitors can use credit cards for buying these hand crafted wood works. Prices are usually fixed and bargaining is not advised while buying handicrafts from here. The Turiplaza is located in Progreso. In case, tourists are running short of time to visit Progreso, they might consider visiting the IMAPRO store in San Pedro instead.

Some of the famous Honduran leather items include belts, bags, Attaché cases, wallets and various leather garments. The famous four local leather producers in San Pedro are the Latino's Leather, La Maison du Cuir, Danilo's Pura Piel and Lesanddra Leather.

Tourists can also check out silver jewelry and other silver products contributing to the tradition of Honduras as a silver mining country. The Joyeria Cantero is one of the reputed stores to buy silver products.
