1. Air

The major International Airports of Honduras can be found in the capital city of Tegucigulpa and San Pedro Sula. International flights from both the airports fly to and from the Miami and Houston Airports. The airlines serving these airports include American Airlines and Continental Airlines. Tourists can take a connecting flight from San Pedro Sula via La Ceiba in order to avoid complications while visiting Utila. Aerolineas SOSA and Atlantic Airlines are the only two airlines operating scheduled flights to Utila. The small operating aircrafts can accommodate 15 to 20 passengers. The island of Roatan also has International flights flying in with the continental Airlines reaching the island on Saturdays from Houston. The Aerolineas SOSA and the Atlantic Airlines co-ordinate with these international flights to connect to Utila in just 15 minutes.

2. Bus

Bus services abound in Honduras with buses running frequently to serve the borders and crossing points of Honduras. Nevertheless, these buses would not cross the borders, which would require walking on feet to avail of the bus services of the other side. Buses also run to connect passengers from the major airports with the downtown or terminal points. The schedules of these buses are designed to co-ordinate with a lot of sight seeing and recreational activities. The city of La Ceiba has a centralized bus station.

3. Car

One of the ideal ways to explore the beauty of Honduras can be by car. All major credit cards issued by Visa, American Express, Diners club, Carte Blanche and MasterCard are accepted while hiring a car. Some companies might ask for a safety deposit amount of around $300 at the time of hiring the car. This amount will be returned to the tourist at the time of returning the vehicle safely within a period of 10 business days. Renters using debit cards for payment need to present a proof of their present liability insurance. The minimum age for hiring cars in Honduras may vary between 21 to 24 depending on the policies of the rental companies.

4. Ferry

Some of the major international destinations for boats include Puerto Cabezas (Nicaragua), Puerto Barrios (Guatemala), Belize, the Caribbean islands and New Orleans or Miami in the US. The only ferry service to Utila is the Utila Princess, leaving from the Mulle de Cabotage (the docks) in La Ceiba twice daily.

5. Ship

Some of the major ports of Honduras include Tela, La Ceiba, El Henecan, Puerto Cortes and Trujilo. The Carol Lines, Hapag-Llyod and Cie Generale are some of the major companies operating ships in the island. Ships can also be chartered from companies such as the Standard Fruit Company and the Royal Netherlands Steamship Company.

6. Taxi

Taxis in Honduras are not metered and function on a fixed rate within the major cities. It is advisable to negotiate the fares before boarding the cabs.
