Honduras has a rocky topography and climatic changes are resultant of varying elevations. The weather at mid-altitude regions is favorable with temperatures between 59-68°F and a low of 82°F and regular sunlight. Rainfall is between low and moderate. The distinct wet and patchy season extends between May and October. The low lying and coastal areas experience warmer nights, less temperature variations and rainfall. Late spring and summers are relatively warmer and the North Coast and Bay Islands are very humid during this period. March and April tend to be dry and dusty in the mountains. So much so that brush fires are a common phenomenon. Average day temperatures during fall and spring are about 70s-80s F/, with night temperatures averaging 60s F.

In relation to deciding the best weather when visiting, November to mid April sees an increased number of tourists. Between June-November, the region experiences the most rainfall along with being accompanied by thunderstorms, which may reduce the inflow of visitors.

2. What to Wear

Men can opt for loose fit trousers and shirts. Women generally prefer one-piece calico or cotton dresses or loose blouses teamed with skirts. Flip-flops and open sandals complete the look. Lightweight cotton clothes are ideal, though a jacket or sweater should be carried when visiting the central zone of Honduras.
