1. Currency Exchange
The official currency of Ibiza is the Euro. There are a number of money exchange facilities in Ibiza. The exchange can be done at a number of cash points that are found in San Antonio and in Ibiza Town. All major debit and credit cards are accepted at these cash points. An added advantage is that all instructions are in English, making it easy for all foreign tourists.
Bureau de Change, which is registered with the Bank of Spain, has the authority to exchange foreign currencies, notes as well as the travelers' checks and also the checks in Euros. They do not charge a commission for foreign currency exchange, though a small amount that is 3% is charged for converting the travelers' checks to euros.
Western Union money transfer facility is also available for transferring cash. The services can be availed of between 9.30 am to 10.30 pm everyday. Among the credit cards, Visa and MasterCard are readily accepted.
2. What a Dollar Will Buy You
The cost of living in Ibiza is not very high. This is evident from the fact that a 33cl bottle of beer here costs around $1.27. Similarly, you can get a one-liter bottle of mineral water for $ 1.15. A camera film will cost you about $9.59. The city center bus ticket costs $1.40. A three-course meal, along with wine and beer costs approximately $15.
3. Telecommunications
There is a sound telecommunication infrastructure in place in Ibiza. There are coin-operated telephones spread throughout the island and use euro coins of 5 cents and above. Making calls, especially long distance ones, is more feasible from the Telefonica booths or cabins as they charge once the call is completed.
Mobile phones can also be used, but the service might prove to be too expensive. Before leaving for the island, you should check with your network provider about the availability of roaming facilities in Ibiza and get them activated accordingly.
When making calls from a foreign country to Ibiza, prefix the numbers with +34, which is the Spanish international dialing code.

4. Cab Fares
Cab travel in Ibiza is not very expensive and most taxis have a fixed rate. Fares from Ibiza Town to San Antonio cost around $18. In case you use a taxi to go clubbing in a group of for or more people, the club pays the full cab fare.

6. Taxes
VAT or Value Added Tax is included in the price of most commodities. Tourists who are from outside the EU can claim a VAT refund if the item purchased is for personal use and exceeds a particular amount. You should check with the shopkeeper for further details about reclaiming the tax.
A departure tax of about $14 is charged at the airport.
7. Tipping
Like several other destinations, the tipping custom in Ibiza is 10-15% of the total bill amount. Taxi drivers are given a tip of about 5-10% of the cab fare. Almost all restaurants in Ibiza will charge a service tax, which will be included in the final bill. However, many still consider it customary to leave a small amount if the service was satisfactory.
