Israel enjoys long, warm, dry summers that usually extend from April to October. Winters in Israel are usually mild and extends from November to March. The hilly regions such as Jerusalem and Safed experience dry and cool weather. The amount of rainfall in Israel is relatively high in the northern and central portion of the country, while the rainfall received in the Negev area is almost negligible.

Extreme climatic conditions range from occasional snowfall in winter in the mountain regions to periodic harsh hot dry winds, which may send temperatures soaring, particularly in spring and autumn.

The best time to visit Israel is March to June or October and November, although climate shouldn't be a major factor that needs to be taken into consideration while planning your visit.

2. What To Wear

While touring Israel you are advised to pack lightly, especially in the summer time. In case you're traveling in the winter, bring along a winter jacket, rain gear and sweater. The general dressing code in Israel is informal. In winter it is advisable that you dress up in layers, as it can get very chilly at times. If you plan to visit the holy sites you are advised to dress up modestly.
