Madrid usually experiences a Mediterranean climate. Winters, lasting from December to Mid-March, in Madrid are not extremely cold with minimum temperatures hovering about 36ºF and maximum temperatures 50ºF. Spring arrives around mid of March and lasts up to May, while the autumn lasts from September to November. Both these seasons are exceptionally pleasant with temperatures varying between 69ºF and 46ºF. Summer from June to August can become hot, with temperatures occasionally reaching 104ºF.

The best time to travel to Madrid is during spring or autumn. August is the time when Madrid is heavily crowded, whereas May and October are the most excellent period, as the weather is usually warm and dry and it is less crowded.

2. What to Wear

If you are traveling to Madrid during winter, you need to equip yourself with sweaters, heavy shoes as well as water-resistant jacket and umbrella, as the possibility if rains cannot be ruled out. It is recommended to carry jackets even during spring. During the summer season, you should carry short-sleeved shirts, shorts, sunglasses and hats.
