Malaysia experiences a hot and humid climate and the humidity falls in the range of 80 to 90 percent with the exception of the regions in the highlands. The average annual temperature varies between 70 degrees F and 90 degrees F. The tropical weather prevails all through the year, although the rainy season varies on the coasts of Peninsular Malaysia. Rainy season in the west coast is the period between September and December and the east coast receives it from October to February. While the annual rainfall in East Malaysia is around 5080 mm, West Malaysia has an annual rainfall of approximately 2500 mm.

Malaysia can be visited anytime of the year, however a lot depends on the purpose of visiting Malaysia. For visitors interested in shopping, the best time to go to Kuala Lumpur is in the months of March, August and December. Scuba divers can go to the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo in the period between May and August. Rains are expected in the end of October and mid-January and some resorts even close down in this period. This is the time when beaches are less crowded and hotel tariffs are low.

While traveling to Malaysia, you can carry some light casual clothes anytime of the year. If you are on a business trip, men can carry a jacket and a tie. Women can wear comfortable clothes and as such there is no restriction on clothes as long as you are modestly dressed.
