A. Deering Estate at Cutler

The estate is a truly unique park located in South Florida and provides stunning views of the Biscayne Bay. The park belongs to the Miami-Dade Parks and Recreation Department and is spread over an area of 450 acres. It is an environmental, historical, and archeological preserve where you can indulge yourself in a number of activities such as the 1.5 mile guided tour of the parks' lush green areas. While traveling in the park, you will come across the tropical hardwood hammock and will be able to view different species of wildlife that are native to the region. The park has a primeval Tequesta burial site where it is believed that 12 to 18 chieftains were buried some five hundred years ago. It is also home to the quaint Richmond Cottage and Charles Deering's grand Mediterranean-style Stone House. The park hosts quarterly art exhibitions and allows visitors to enjoy canoe rides on weekends. It is open for visitors from 10 am to 5 pm on all days excluding public holidays.

B. Miami Beach Bicycle Center

Bicycles are the best way to explore destinations in and around Miami's South Beach. Located just a few miles from the beach are some of the most admired destinations such as Downtown Miami, Key Biscayne, Lincoln Road, Venetian Causeway, Coconut Grove, and Ocean Drive. The zoo is included in the top ten of zoos in the United States. As compared to an average US zoo, the Miami Metro Zoo is five times larger and is spread over an area of three hundred acres. The zoo is home to more than 1,300 individual animals that represent over four hundred species. The zoo has the largest aviary in the United States, containing several species of birds from Asia and an enclosed gallery where you can view animals from a short distance. Other attractions of the zoo include an exclusive wildlife carousel, guided tram tours, behind-the-scenes zookeeper tours, exotic animal presentations, an elevated monorail, paddleboat rides, and many others. D. Miami Seaquarium

The Seaquarium is located in a magnificently landscaped park overlooking Biscayne Bay and is spread over an area of 38 acres. It hosts many shows throughout the day and is considered as one of the best places for viewing and learning the feeding habits of different species of sea life. Before each show, educational presentations are made that provide information about different species of sea life present in the Seaquarium. You will come across sharks, dolphins, sea lions, seals, manatees, and eels among other unique and beautiful sea creatures. The Seaquarium is also home to some of the most well known animals used in television serials and movies such as Lolita the Killer Whale, TV's Flipper, and Salty the Sea Lion. The Seaquarium is open for visitors from 9:30 AM to 6 PM on a daily basis.

E. Parrot Jungle Island

It is a manmade representation of a real island and imitates the landscapes and wildlife of a typical island covered with forests. One of the main attractions of the park is ‘the hippo', which is a 168-foot tall water slide. While walking along the manmade tropical jungles, you will come across exotic animals and birds belonging to different parts of the world. The park hosts different types of animal shows such as ‘wild encounters', featuring tigers and orangutans and ‘winged wonders', featuring different species of birds such as condors, cockatoos, mama cass and others. The most interesting show is perhaps the ‘reptile giants' that features some of the most poisonous snakes in the world, alligators, and crocodiles. Dining options are available at the Lakeside Café overlooking the scenic Flamingo Lake. The park is open daily from 10 AM to 6 PM.

F. Pelican Harbor Seabird Station

The Pelican Harbor Seabird Station is located in an area that is the natural habitat of the Brown Pelican, which often represents South Florida. It is located in the middle of the picturesque Biscayne Bay on a flyway where you can walk among the pelicans and view many other species of birds such as herons, osprey, and even frigatebirds. If you are visiting during the winters, you can even catch a glimpse of baby pelicans. The Pelican Harbor Seabird Station has been functioning since the last 25 years and its main job is to rescue, rehabilitate and release ailing and wounded seabirds, mostly brown pelicans. You can visit the area to have an insight about the Station that is working to protect and preserve South Florida's seabird populations. The Station is open daily for visitors from 9 AM to 5 PM.

G. Vizcaya Museum and Gardens

The Vizcaya Museum is housed in a building that was originally constructed by American industrialist James Deering who lived in the house from 1916 to 1925. The amazing building was constructed to resemble a four hundred year old Italian villa. It has been occupied and renovated many times over and now displays works of art and furnishings that represent America's Gilded Age.

The garden in front of the museum is spread over an area of ten acres and is home to several fountains, a central pool surrounding an elevated island, the elevated mound with its small house or "Casino," statuary, and several themed gardens. You will also come across the huge orchid specimens in the David A. Klein Orchidarium and the ancient Vizcaya Village that is currently being renovated. The museum is open daily for visitors from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

H. Bass Museum of Art

The museum is located in the heart of the celebrated Art Deco District that has permanent displays of major paintings, sculpture and textiles by European artists and artisans. It also hosts short-term exhibitions of conventional as well as contemporary art forms such as ‘Picasso's Suite 347' and ‘Christo and Jeanne-Claude: The Wurth Museum Collection'. The museum's permanent collection boasts of numerous works of art, some of which are more than five hundred years old. The museum was renovated and additions were made in 2002 based on the designs of the famous architect, ‘Arata Isozaki'. Now the museum has a cafe, media center, a terrace, and a wonderful museum shop. The museum is open daily for visitors from 10 AM to 5 PM.

I. Bonnet House Museum & Gardens

The Bonnet House Museum is housed in a building that was designed and constructed by Frederic Clay Bartlett in 1921 and is one of the few complete homes and studios of a recognized American artist that is open to the public. A lot of creativity has been used in designing the interiors of the museum, which is easily visible in its ceiling murals, faux marble walls and floors, and balustrades that are actually paintings. The museum displays everything from antique chinaware to carousel animals of the 20th century. The garden in front of the museum is actually the beachfront where you can find squirrel monkeys, swans, and other animals including an occasional manatee. The museum is open for visitors from 10 AM to 4 PM (Tuesday to Saturday) and from 12 PM to 4 PM on Sunday.

J. The Museum of Contemporary Art

The museum is housed in a state-of-the-art building that has an area of 23,000 square feet and was opened to public in February 1996. The museum was designed by the renowned architect, Charles Gwathmey and features a large plaza lined with palm trees along with a pool located at the museum's entrance. It is very popular as it often displays provocative and innovative works of art by reputed as well as emerging contemporary artists. The museum is open for visitors from 11 AM to 5 PM (Tuesday to Saturday) and from 12 PM to 5 PM on Sunday.
