Puerto Rico offers a variety of accommodation options from the very modest to the most lavish and that suit every taste and budget. Some Puerto Rican hotels are located right on the beach. Those which are not located close to the beach, charge for transportation charges by taxi or bus, so it is important to find out, if these costs form a part of your vacation package or not. If you wish to go to the beach most of the times, it would be better to book a hotel in the Condado, rather than Old San Juan. A majority of the hotels are on the windward side of the Puerto Rico. If you are a snorkeling enthusiast, you can make reservations in hotels on the leeward (eastern shore) or Caribbean (southeast coast) sides. The most important locations in these regions are the Palmas del Mar resort and the ‘second city' of Ponce. You will rarely find all-inclusive resorts in Puerto Rico.

This island also has an excellent range of reasonably priced hotels, generally situated a few blocks away from the beach and these are suited to meet business traveler needs.

The Puerto Rico Tourism Company provides paradores puertorriqueños (charming country inns) to tourists for accommodations. The paradores are located in historic places or sites of extraordinary picturesque beauty and meet high standards of service and hygiene. Many paradores are set in the mountains and others are close to the ocean. Almost all paradores serve brilliant Puerto Rican cuisine. Many paradores are located in western Puerto Rico. Paradores are reasonably priced hotels.
