The weather in Rome is usually warm and sunny, especially in summer and spring. The pleasant weather might continue till December in a good year, punctuated by occasional cold winds. The best time to visit Rome would be in spring when the weather is at its best. The average temperature at this time revolves around 50 to 70o F. Late July and August get extremely hot and the locals tend to leave for mountain retreats and beaches. Winter temperatures fall to 40o to 55o F, bringing along with it cold winds and showers. However, the fall of temperature is also reflected noticeably in the prices. Tourists can also take advantage of the reduced rates to enjoy their Christmas holidays.

2. What to Wear

While packing for a trip to Rome, women need to be conscious about their dress code. Sleeveless dresses, cut off skirts and skirts above knee level are strictly prohibited while visiting cathedrals and churches in Rome. Casual American dresses such as shorts, t-shirts and sports shoes would mark you as a tourist and may attract contemptuous looks combined with unwanted attention.
