Nightlife

Sicilian nightlife has two aspects. If you want to soak in the culture, head for the theatres, concert halls or opera houses and enjoy Sicilian art at its best or head down to the clubs and pubs for a groovy time. The former option is a little dicey because Sicilian theatre is quite allergic to other languages. Nonetheless, for cultural treats like puppet shows (pupi), at least one visit is highly recommended. The best clubs and dance bars are located in and around Catania and Syracuse. Some of these are formal places for meeting and dinning and some are out and out party centers where visitors can dance away the night. A favorite place for open-air partying is the Mondello Lido beach at night.

Many sections of the town become social hotspots at night. They are not scenes of parties or rocking music, but just a place where locals meet and hangout. Visiting any of these streets or corners will give people a chance to interact with the locals and sample some great street food.

Banacher

Location: 20 minutes up the coast of Catania

This is a roomy, outdoor club where people can party through the night. But make no mistake, as this place is expensive, although the international music and great crowd can make your expense worthwhile.

Cuba

Location: Villa Sperlinga

Named after a South American country but with a completely middle East Asian feel. This is a lounge with great cocktails and Arabic style food.

Bar Morgana

Location: Taormina

Perhaps the hippest, trendiest place in Sicily, Bar Morgana attracts crowds even in low seasons. This has a very interesting atmosphere and great staff and splendid music by a Brazilian DJ. A, and is a great place for young people with reasonable pricing.

Malox

Palermo

A pub that is famous with the locals has to be great and this fits the criteria as it has a relaxed, casual atmosphere. There are live performances and film shows occasionally.
