St. Lucia offers a plethora of shops and markets that are compatible with all needs and tastes. While store hours vary for each establishment, you will find that a majority of the shops are open from 8:30am to 12:30pm and from 1:30pm to 4:30pm from Monday to Friday. Most of the shops are functional on Saturdays too from 8:30am to 12:30pm. Shopping arenas are generally closed on Sundays with the exception of the marina-based shops.
Pointe Seraphine is a recently inaugurated harbor-front shopping complex that offers duty-free designer perfumes, jewelry, crystal, china, cigars and clothing as well as woodcarvings and other local arts and crafts on display at more than 20 modern shops.
The Castries market is over hundred years old and is a must see for visitors. The market houses several shops where local vendors offer thousands of varieties of island memorabilia, spices and foods, and local fishermen offer the daily catch. The Castries Market is particularly energetic on Saturdays, during St. Lucia Jazz and Carnival. The Vendor's Arcade has some of the best souvenirs including t-shirts, jewelry and locally made handcrafts.
Gablewoods Shopping Center, just north of Castries, houses a wide array of shops and services including international books and news, postal services, restaurants and a supermarket.
The Artsibits Gallery in Castries has many of the islands distinctive paintings and carvings on sale. The studio of Sydney Bigshaw is located on the La Toc Road and offers some of the best works by the skilled artisan.
Eudovic studios in Goodlands is 10 minutes south of Castries and sells beautiful works of art sculpted from wood.
The Choiseul Arts and Crafts center on the southern coast of the island is an excellent source for hand woven baskets, unique placemats, chairs and woodcarvings.
The vacation paradise of Soufriere has numerous local and resort-run shops selling a large variety of gifts, clothing and local art.
The Rodney Bay Marina at Gros Islet on the northern end of the island is a modern shopping arcade offering a wide selection of stores and services including gift items, clothing, banking and restaurants.
A full selection of golf equipment is available on sale at the St. Lucia Golf and Country Club's Pro Shop.
