Switzerland experiences a pleasant climate almost all through the year. The peaks of the Alps mountain range receive snowfall throughout the year. The weather during the summer, spring and autumn seasons is favorable for visiting the country. The western part of Switzerland is influenced by the winds blowing over the Atlantic Ocean. The eastern regions experience continental climate. The regions south of the Alps have Mediterranean climate. The weather in spring is cool and there can be light showers of rain. The weather conditions in April can vary quite suddenly. Summers in Switzerland are dry and warm on the whole. Maximum temperature in the summer can go up to 95°F. The fall season has climate, which is cool and dry. The months of September and October usher in the winter season and the weather turns cold. Snow is not uncommon in the lower elevations of the Alps.
Fewer tourists visit during the spring, which lasts from April to May and the autumn, which lasts from September to October. Summers last from June till September, and has climate, which is the best suited for outdoor activities.
Winter sports can be enjoyed in the country starting from late November.
2. What to Wear
Whatever time of the year you choose to visit Switzerland, remember to wear warm clothing, sturdy footwear and a windproof jacket. At high altitudes, it is advisable to wear suncream, sunglasses, and hats or caps.
