1. Best Times To Go
The best time to visit Sydney depends on your tastes, but normally most visitors prefer going in summers when the weather is perfect for beach activities. The summer season officially starts on December 1 and ends on the last day of February. This is the time when cultural activity in Sydney is at its peak and the streets are full of street performers and art exhibitions. It is the season of festivals starting from Christmas in December, followed by Boxing Day on December 26. The Sydney Festival is celebrated in January and ends on Australia Day, which is held on January 26. The Sydney Fringe Festival is also held within the same period. The Great Ferry Race is also held on the same day and you may get a chance to ride in one of them. In the month of February, the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade is held, which is considered as the biggest of its kind in the world.
2. What To Wear
Casual wear is the most preferred clothing in Sydney. You can go to the opera wearing jeans and no one will object to your dressing. However, these are one of the few occasions when the local people like to dress up. You are expected to dress in formal clothing such as a tuxedo or a jacket and tie when the occasion is formal. On other occasions, you are free to wear whatever you think is comfortable for you.
Dress restrictions are enforced only in some select clubs such as the Returned Services League (RSL) club where thongs, rubber shoes, jeans, and collarless shirts are not allowed. Clothing restrictions vary from club to club and information about the restrictions will be made available to you at the time of buying the passes.
