Hotels

Tahiti offers some of the best accommodation facilities in the South Pacific and is also amongst the most expensive. Almost all resorts in Tahiti are located on the beach. Thirty, odd five star resorts at the beach, offer glamorous over-water bungalows that sit directly above lagoons and have glass floors for vacationers to watch the tropical marine life below. Resorts also offer several activities like diving, snorkeling and water sports.

Large international hoteliers such as Sheraton, Intercontinental, Accor and Sofitel offer some of the best accommodation in Tahiti; however, they charge exorbitant prices for the service. Swimming pools, top quality restaurants and entertainment facilities are available at the hotels.

Apart from the large hotels and resorts there are several excellent Pensions or Fares around the Tahitian Islands that offer a bed and breakfast style room or private unit enclosed by a family garden. This type of accommodation is cheaper and does not compromise on quality. Costs can vary from $90 to $100 per night.

Cottages and cabins are also available in Tahiti. This type of simple accommodation has self-catering facilities for preparing your own meals.

Backpack travelers can accommodate themselves at few dorm rooms and budget rooms with shared facilities at a low price of $20 for the night.
