Tobago offers tourists accommodation, which suits every budget and style. A lot of hotels and guesthouses are located at a short distance away from the airport. Loads of luxury hotels in Tobago are situated along the beaches between Buccoo and Plymouth, and there are some guesthouses around Scarborough as well. Most of the lodging facilities are available in the southwestern part of the island, along with some host homes, inns, retreats and guesthouses in the countryside. In Trinidad, apart from international hotel chains in Port of Spain, there are local hotels, guesthouses, and host homes also. Host homes are private houses ready to accommodate tourists. The availability of these host homes during the Carnival period is higher than compared to any other time of year. However, in some places the rates can be 50 percent more than normal high season rates.

In northwest Trinidad, you will mainly find accommodation in Port of Spain and its suburbs. If you go down further west, which is, towards Chaguaramas, the options reduce.

Tourists generally do not opt for hotel accommodation in Central Trinidad, when visiting the island. With the exception of some hotels and guesthouses in the areas of Piarco, Pointe-à-Pierre and Sangre Grande, there is nearly no other accommodation.

Staying in south Trinidad is an extremely different experience compared to staying in Port of Spain. You have limited choices and if you go farther south, the choices reduce all the more. You will find the good accommodation options in San Fernando, which has some hotels and even fewer guesthouses. A few host homes are also available but it is advisable to enquire in advance. In Mayaro, beach houses are available for accommodation; and there will be no trouble finding a place that suits your budget. In most cases, even though you will have no problem finding hotel accommodation, it is always advisable to make reservations, especially during Carnival and Easter and on weekends.
