Nightlife

Vienna is a place steeped in cultural events and fine living. This is not for those looking for a rollicking time at pubs and nightclubs and late night events. Vienna goes to bed by 10:00 pm at the latest and thus the nightlife in the city is slack and unhappening. The theatre and operas let out by eleven in the night at the latest.

There is however a shift in this trend and nightclubs and bars are now sprouting up in certain areas of the city. However the music scene and atmosphere at these places are in no way comparable to other nightlife destinations in the world. Most nightclubs and night spots are located in the area between Seitenstettengasse, Judengasse and the Bäckerstrasse area south of Rotenturmstrasse. This region is affectionately dubbed the Bermuda Triangle of Vienna, where people ‘drown' and are never heard from again.

Flex

This is the place to be if you plan on having the best night in Vienna. Flex has different themes and music performances everyday and the crowd, although formerly dressed, is all in for the party. Live international bands and touring DJs often play at this venue.

Volksgarten Disco

A great place to check out what's happening in the hip-hop, house, r&b and rock arena internationally. Events are generally listed in local newspapers. It also has an excellent garden bar and a dance floor with a retractable roof to reveal the night sky.

Tanzcafe Jenseits

A lot of velvet and kitsch, so you know what this place is aiming for. There is always a very big crowd so either get there early or be prepared to wait in line.
